Staff Field Engineer, Mechanical

Our client, a company building large scale compute infrastructure for AI, is looking for a Staff Field Engineer for mechanical systems.They acquire power, design and build data centers and operate them, accelerating toward 100 GW by the end of the decade, with operations running inside live construction zones. This role owns day to day operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of critical cooling plant in a live 24/7 environment. Base salary is $175,000 to $200,000 plus equity.Role & Responsibilities:- Own day to day operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of critical cooling plant- Operate and troubleshoot chillers, cooling towers, CRAH and CRAC units, CDUs and pumps hands on- Write and execute high risk mechanical MOPs, managing contractors through them safely- Read P&IDs and submittals well enough to catch problems in design review rather than in the field- Treat thermal precision as non negotiable for AI workloads- Raise operational standards and build mechanical readiness in the teams around youSkills & Experience:- Career built in mechanical and cooling systems in mission critical environments- Hands on operation of critical cooling plant in live 24/7 environments- Track record writing and executing high risk mechanical MOPs- Comfortable troubleshooting a chiller fault and reviewing a P&ID with equal confidence- Bonus: hyperscale or large data center operations, direct liquid cooling and CDU experience- Bonus: refrigerant handling certification and ASHRAE TC 9.9 familiarity
