Our client, a fintech and loyalty business that turns rent and mortgage payments into rewards, is looking for a Senior Back End Engineer in New York.Members earn one of the most valuable and flexible points currencies in the market on every on time rent or mortgage payment, with neighbourhood benefits across more than 45,000 merchants nationwide. This role owns the design, implementation and documentation of back end services behind the mobile app and website, while coaching junior engineers and driving best practice. The range for the role is $200,000 to $260,000 depending on experience and level, plus equity and an annual performance based bonus. In office, New York.Role & Responsibilities:- Design, implement and document back end services for the mobile app and website- Implement microservices using Java and the Quarkus framework- Investigate and use Google Cloud Platform services to continuously improve application architecture- Propose and enhance automation across infrastructure as code, CI/CD, monitoring and alerting- Optimise the application for maximum speed, scalability and reliability- Coach and mentor junior engineers and drive technical best practice across the teamSkills & Experience:- Strong senior level backend engineering experience, ideally on consumer scale products- Java expertise, with Quarkus, Spring Boot or similar modern frameworks- Microservices and distributed systems design experience- Cloud platform experience, preferably Google Cloud Platform- CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring and alerting- Clear communication, with a track record of coaching and mentoring less experienced engineers
