Our client, the leading personal finance management software business, is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer in Menlo Park, California.For over 40 years more than 20 million customers have relied on their software to take control of their finances. This role joins a small, dynamic Cloud Services team building high quality, cross platform, cloud based services that will drive the future of the business. Expected base pay is $158,000 to $180,000.Role & Responsibilities:- Deliver scalable, production ready backend and server code in Java, from design and development through deployment- Solve technical problems, create design documents and implement complex designs as part of an Agile team- Partner with engineers, architects, product managers, QA and operations to design solutions that meet user, engineering and operational needs- Build robust, scalable and efficient cross platform cloud services- Contribute to engineering process improvements- Apply new technology and software paradigms through experimentation and continuous learningSkills & Experience:- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience- Expert Java, Spring and Hibernate skills- Strong software design skills including REST API design, extensible design, database modelling and proactive error handling- Experience building cloud based services at scale- Comfortable working in an Agile development team with cross functional stakeholders- Passion for quality, continuous learning and applying cutting edge technology
