Software Engineering & InfrastructureOur client, an applied research lab advancing long horizon agent capabilities through reinforcement learning, is looking for a Member of Technical Staff on the engineering side. San Francisco, onsite.They design and scale simulation environments where agents learn to operate safely and autonomously, and work with the world's leading model labs to push the frontier of agent capability. They have raised an $8M seed from a group of well known funds and angels and are growing the founding team. This role builds the infrastructure and systems behind their environment simulation products. Compensation is $150K to $300K plus equity.Role & Responsibilities:- Build the technical foundation that makes it possible to train and evaluate autonomous agents in complex, realistic environments- Develop an advanced environment simulation engine for training and evaluating autonomous agents- Build scalable infrastructure to run thousands of simulation environments in parallel- Optimise the performance of complex, stateful simulation environments- Build tooling to collect data at scale and improve environment and task creation- Contribute to published research as a member of the founding teamSkills & Experience:- Strong engineering fundamentals and a prolific user of AI tools- Experience with infrastructure, containerisation and networking- Experience with large scale distributed systems and data systems- Interest in reinforcement learning environments- Energised by hard technical problems at the intersection of engineering and research- Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a founding team
