Our client, an applied research lab advancing long horizon agent capabilities through reinforcement learning, is looking for a Member of Technical Staff on the research side. San Francisco, onsite.They design and scale simulation environments where agents learn to operate safely and autonomously, and work with the world's leading model labs to push the frontier of agent capability. They have raised an $8M seed from a group of well known funds and angels and are growing the founding team. Compensation is $150K to $300K plus equity.Role & Responsibilities:- Work on core research problems across long horizon evaluation, agent post-training and environment design- Develop an advanced environment simulation engine for training and evaluating autonomous agents- Investigate failure modes of frontier models to understand where they break and how to improve them- Create rigorous benchmarks that evaluate frontier agents on complex, realistic tasks requiring long horizon reasoning and tool use- Post-train agents in complex simulation environments- Publish research, while writing production code as a member of the founding teamSkills & Experience:- Strong engineering and research fundamentals, and a prolific user of AI tools- Experience post-training frontier models- Experience shipping reliable, production quality code- Track record of publications- Excited by hard, open ended problems at the intersection of research and engineering- Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a founding team environment
