Our client, a 100% employee owned engineering, environmental and construction firm, is looking for a Department Manager to lead expansion of their Civil and Environmental Engineering business line in the Upper Midwest.The business has a network of more than 12,500 professionals across engineering, environmental and construction disciplines, with a culture that rewards initiative and an ownership mindset. The department delivers solid waste and resource recovery, industrial water and wastewater, coal combustion residuals, general civil site design, water resources and stormwater management, nature based solutions and stream restoration projects across industrial, local government, utility and commercial markets. Compensation is $130,000 to $330,000 depending on experience and location, plus a discretionary year end incentive bonus.Role & Responsibilities:- Provide leadership to the team and strategic direction for the overall department, owning its performance- Identify, pursue and win civil and environmental engineering opportunities aligned to regional and national strategy, with a focus on construction and EPC- Lead business development activity including go or no go discussions, contract and risk review, proposal development and capture planning- Build and maintain trusted client relationships across multiple delivery methods including design-bid-build, design-build and EPC- Stay informed on market drivers, client needs, regulatory change and emerging trends- Develop, mentor and inspire multidisciplinary teams and set the tone for project executionSkills & Experience:- Senior leadership experience in civil or environmental consulting, ideally within a large multidisciplinary firm- Proven business development record, including established client relationships in the Upper Midwest- Understanding of regional permitting frameworks, environmental regulations and compliance programs- Experience directing environmental consulting teams and collaborating with construction managers, project controls and scheduling- Strong client engagement, project delivery and multidisciplinary team leadership skills- Professional Engineer registration preferred, and design-build project experience a plus
