Our client, a company building large scale compute infrastructure for AI, is looking for a Commissioning Project Engineer for data centers, based in Austin.They acquire power, design and build data centers and operate them, with teams spanning hardware and software, focused on delivering tens to hundreds of gigawatts of compute faster than anyone else. This role plans, coordinates and executes commissioning for data center and mission critical projects, with a primary focus on Factory Acceptance Testing and the approval of project test procedures. Base salary is $150,000 to $220,000 plus equity.Role & Responsibilities:- Plan, schedule and coordinate Factory Acceptance and Factory Witness Tests for mission critical equipment including UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, transformers, cooling and controls- Review and approve vendor submitted FAT procedures against specifications, Uptime Institute Tier standards and client requirements- Develop and distribute FAT schedules, witness notifications and travel logistics for internal teams, clients and third party commissioning agents- Attend and lead witness tests at manufacturer facilities, documenting results and tracking punch items to closure- Ensure all critical infrastructure systems are validated against design intent before energisation and handover- Protect uptime, reliability and client SLA commitments across concurrent projectsSkills & Experience:- Strong commissioning background on data center or mission critical facility projects- Experience developing and reviewing multi level commissioning test procedures- Working knowledge of Uptime Institute Tier classification, TIA-942, ASHRAE TC 9.9 and relevant NFPA standards- Ability to read single line diagrams, mechanical schematics, sequences of operation and BMS or EPMS control logic- Familiarity with data center metrics including PUE and redundancy configurations- Willing to travel domestically and internationally for vendor FATs and site commissioning support
