Our client, building the next generation of tools for learning, is looking for an Android Engineer in San Francisco.Their app brings the natural expressiveness of paper into the digital age, helping millions of students, educators and professionals organise ideas, deepen understanding and collaborate. This role joins the Android team to develop an exceptional, high performing native application. Base pay is targeted at $120,000 to $175,000, hybrid with a minimum of two days onsite in downtown San Francisco.Role & Responsibilities:- Develop and implement a complex, high performing native Android application- Solve difficult technical problems with a modern Android stack- Participate in code reviews and discussions on software development best practice- Communicate progress and risks to the team- Contribute across all parts of the product rather than a narrow lane- Build a product customers genuinely loveSkills & Experience:- 1 to 2 years developing, architecting, optimising and shipping high performance Android applications in Kotlin- Strong computer science fundamentals and problem solving skills- Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration skills- Passionate about solutions while humble in the face of opposing ideas- Willing to embrace how engineering is changing, including immutable data and functional patterns, while staying intensely pragmatic- Experience with large Android codebases is a plus, and Jetpack Compose is highly desirable
